Christmas Holiday 2014 Day 13

January 1
Thursday Yen Minh – Quan Ba – Ha Giang – Hoang Su Phi

After baguettes and noodles for breakfast followed by a stroll around the local market, we enjoyed the views of Yen Minh Pass.

We stopped at the workshop of Ms Mai to learn more about traditional weaving with hemp & embroidery.

Then we drove over the Quan Ba Pass and then hiked to a village of Hmong people for lunch. Dad liked the live toilet duck at this restaurant!

We stopped to climb up to get a very good view of fairy bosom. I think you can see why.

The scenery this afternoon was green forests, tea farms & the most impressive terraced rice fields so far.

We had an “orange break” – a stop at the side of the road to eat oranges.

We stayed at Pan Hou Eco lodge which is reached by crossing a very wobbly bridge.

What basic weaving. This reminded me of my teaching but even more rustic – fascinating.
My a very well endowed fairy! A day Granny would have enjoyed.

    1. We bought you a present from Ms Mai who has 100 ladies who she has taught – can you guess what it is?
The fairy bosoms is a very serious ancient legend – no more jokes Granny!
