Flying Zebra

26 January 2014
Dear Bloggers,

This week has been quite an exciting week (except for the fact that Mum was away in Tokyo 😢🗼). However, I got some very very exciting news. The video that I helped to make at school (It’s our world, Shanghai) won the competition it was entered into! The competition was for British schools all over the world – and we won a prize (a complete set of children’s Lonely Planet books for the school library) and some recognition for the school. My name was one of seven names on the credits (six children & one teacher), and on quite a lot of the photos. The children who contributed (including me) have been awarded a PRINCIPAL COMMENDATION. It’s the highest award you can receive at my school. So, although I have not met the principle, Mr. Foyle yet, to receive the award, I am very happy that we will get an award soon.
At home this week, Dad and I did our own “banksey” on the wall opposite our kitchen window. It improves the view a lot! Mum calls it the “flying zebra” as she thinks we should have done it lower down, not in the middle. The neighbours think it is something for Chinese New Year as it is the year of the horse.

Saturday – Rugby
Yesterday I went to Pudong to play rugby for the BISS Lions. We won two games and came second in our third & last game. We had movie night watching a good quality copy of the film “Catching Fire” (which was very good – but a bit violent). Rated 4 out of 5 stars/claps by all of us.

Sunday – Homework/Out for lunch
Today I have been doing homework, out for a long lunch at Vis-a-vis, a walk in the French Concession & then home to finish my homework. Movie night tonight is “Frozen”. I will try to remember to post the rating later this week.

Congratulations on winning the competition, a lot of work must have gone into making the video – are we going to be able to see it?
The Principal Mr. Foyle must be very pleased with all your efforts. Well done Thomas, and all who took part.
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. Xx
