Cheeky So-and-So

Dear Bloggers,
This week I have hardly had any homework, so it has been a lot more fun. My numeracy homework was on a πŸ†• website & took me less than 5 mins to do. Dad gave a cooking lesson on Tuesday & made some marvellous macarons – really yummy & no cracks! πŸ†’

Dad was out on his 🚲 on Wednesday – & when waiting at a traffic light πŸš₯ he noticed he had a flat tyre. He had a look & on inspection noticed a strange bit of wire in the tyre. He pulled it out & started to head for a nearby bicycle shop, but almost immediately a man on a moped drew up & offered to fix it for him – what a stroke of luck – almost too good to be true! He negotiated the price for the repair of the inner tube & the repair commenced – another man arrived & they decided that the tyre was damaged & that he needed a πŸ†• one – some confusion with language – & off one man went with the tyre – he arrived back 5 mins later with what looked like a nice πŸ†• tyre, & amazingly it was exactly the same model. It was in fact the original tyre, but dipped in black wheel dressing & they were trying to pass it off as πŸ†•. They finished the job asked him to go for a test ride & tried to triple the agreed price πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’° because they had supplied a “πŸ†•” tyre. Dad had none of that. Dad was beginning to realise that it was all a “scam” & on closer look at the wire, he could see that it was a special design & sharpened to easily be put on a tyre when no-one was looking. What a cheeky so-and-so! When Dad got home he looked on the internet & read all about other people on 🚲 who had been “scammed” in Shanghai in the same way. At least he didn’t get his 🚲 taken to a well-known “second hand” 🚲 market, where “missing” 🚲 can often be bought back for about 400 RMB. Pooooooor Dad! πŸ‘ΏπŸ˜

Happy highlights:πŸ†’
– Dad collected his πŸ†• coat on Monday – he is very happy with it πŸ˜„

– lots of Chinese πŸ†• Year Decorations πŸŽ‰ are up all over Shanghai – lots of red & gold (Charlotte Curtis can expect a parcel 🎁 πŸ“« to help with her school project)πŸ†’

Here are some pictures of our CNY decorations.(Above)
Here are some other ones-(Below)

– Bought Suzie a very funny outfit πŸ‘˜for her holiday in China 😜 – Dinner at Garlic with Jenny on Thursday🍴
– Din Tai Fung for lunch 🍴on Saturday (the one in Macau has a Michelin star, so we are worried they might put up theπŸ’° prices!)

– 3 games of rugby this week 🏈

– Saturday night at the movies 🎬🎦 – watched “The Lady” **** unsuitable for young viewers; very sad 😒 story of Aung San Suu Kui’s home imprisionment – had a smart hair cut πŸ’ˆπŸ†’
– sign saying no fireworks (the government are trying to encourage less fireworks this CNY to avoid more pollution)βŒπŸŽ†

Poor Dad indeed, he will really have to be very careful in future when he is out on his bike – first he gets his wallet pinched and now this “bike scam” – jolly bad luck.
I am now going to make a cup of tea and wish that I could have one of those macaroons – they look delicious.

We are liking the photos, especially the ones of you playing rugby! Tell Dad I am sure he had a coat just like that when he was a teenager (many many many moons ago!).

Glad you’ve had a better week. Interesting that it is measured by the amount of homework.
Love your CNY decorations and that you are entering into the spirit.
If you are not up to date, England smashed Scotland yesterday in the start of the 6 nations.
Tell Mum not to bring anything back from Mumbai as she has a habit of doing!!!
